Labelled as the safest fete in Carnival, and to date still one of the biggest events in the Trinidad and Tobago, Army Fete 2019 was definitely bigger and better than ever before. The event took place at the Queen’s Park Savannah, known as the centre stage of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival on Friday 22nd February.
With a massive crowd turnout, patrons enjoyed live performance from live bands and many of the Caribbean’s Top Soca acts and a few surprised guest artistes such as Voice, Nadia Batson, Nessa Preppy, Farmer Nappy, Nailah Blackman and Shenseea from Jamaica. Road March contenders like Kes performed his crowd favorite ‘Savannah Gras’ announcing that it was his first time performing the song in the actually Queen’s Park Savannah.
The star studded line-up also included some of the Groovy finalists in the 2019 International Soca Monarch such Swappi, Teddyson John and V’ghn. In addition to Power Soca Finalists Iwer George and Mr. Killa who proved that the competition on ‘Fantastic Friday’ will be a very stiff one, as they both brought that competitive energy to the stage performing their respective hits ‘Water Blessings’ and ‘Run Wid It’.
Blaxx and D All Stars performed live with a few guest performers, including; Patrice Roberts and the ‘Queen of Bacchanal’ herself Destra Garcia performing a few of her soca classics together with her 2019 Road March contender ‘Stage Party’.
The King of Soca, Machel Montano was also a major highlight of the night performing alongside his ‘Famalay’ brother Skinny Fabulous and Soca Legend, Super Blue.
