Socalize 2019: The Return of Soca On D Greens

Written by: Nekisha Cyrus

Socalize: The Soca fete ‘On D Greens’ returns to the Carnival scene.

Known back in the day as the true launch of Carnival in the southland and the stage that determined whether a song was a hit or not. This popular fete was created originally by legendary music producer and owner of KMP Music Lab, Kenny Phillips as a platform for new and upcoming soca artistes to showcase their music.

In keeping with this tradition, Bad John Republic owner and lead music producer Kyle Phillips, son of Kenny Phillips is carrying on the legacy with ‘Socalize’, creating a space for new emerging talents to perform on the same stage as some of their favorite soca artistes.

Socalize 2019 was held on Sunday 6th January  at  Palmiste Block 2, San Fernando with over 50 soca acts performing live including Aaron Duncan, Preedy, 5 Star Akil, Lil Bitts, Farmer Nappy, Nadia Batson, Teddyson John, Lyrikal, Voice, Iwer George and many more.

With the huge crowd turn out, rave reviews and anticipation already in the air for next year, we hope this revived initiative continues to blossom as an annual staple in the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Experience.

A Special Thank You to Bad John Republic and Artikal Entertainment.
