Tobagonian Actor, Winston Duke Lands New Lead TV Role

It was recently announced that Tobago-born actor, Winston Duke best known for his role as M’Baku in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies ‘Black Panther’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers End Game’, and the 2019 American Horror Film ‘Us’ has just landed the lead role in the new upcoming Apple TV Plus series ‘Swagger’.

According to Variety, the new TV series is inspired by NBA champion Kevin Durant’s (a two-time NBA Champion with the Golden State Warriors) youth basketball experiences and explores the world of youth basketball, the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams, ambition, opportunism and corruption. Duke will take the lead role of a youth basketball coach and former star player named ‘Ike’.

With previous appearances on TV shows before like ‘Person of Interest’, ‘Law & Order: SVU’, ‘Major Crimes’ and ‘Modern Family’; ‘Swagger’ will mark the first lead television role of the Tobago-born actor’s career. He is also set to appear alongside well-known American Actor, Mark Wahlberg in Peter Berg‘s Boston-set crime drama ‘Wonderland’.

Production for the ‘Swagger’ TV series is scheduled to begin in October and will be amongst a slew of series available on the soon to be launched streaming service. The American over-the-top ad-free subscription video on demand web television service, Apple TV+ will be launched in November with a streaming service cost of $4.99US monthly.
