Known for his controversial and witty double entendre Soca Parangs, ‘Rome’, a Trinidadian Entertainer, TV/ Radio personality and well-known Host has now added Reality TV star to his entertainment resume.
Jerome Precilla who goes by the stage name ‘Rome’ has been featured on the new VH1 Reality TV show, ‘Girl Cruise’, starring American Rapper Lil Kim, TLC singer Chilli, R&B Singer Mya and Wild N’ Out comedians B. Simone & Pretty Vee.
The ‘Girls Cruise’ Reality TV show premiered on VH1 on Monday 15th July, 2019 and is executive produced by Lil Kim. The show follows the girls on a glamorous cruise through the Caribbean seas as they experience fun adventures, sisterhood bonding and even romance.
Some locals of Trinidad may recall seeing the yacht earlier this year docked at the Hyatt Regency hotel during the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Experience. This revelation makes it all clear, as Rome revealed, that ‘Girls Cruise’ was shot in Trinidad and Barbados and highlights the cast’s activities in both islands. Representing for the Caribbean as the only Caribbean national on-board, the Arima-born entertainer acts as the cruise ‘Fun Director’ aboard the luxurious yacht and is seen making regular appearances throughout the episodes as seen here.
So how did this all come to be? It seems like the stars were aligned as this opportunity came around the same time Rome decided that he was going to pursue entertainment full time. He shared that he was recommended to the Big Fish production company as a cast member for the show and they fell in love with his personality after contacting him via a WhatsApp call.
Rome says that this experience and opportunity has opened up his eyes to think beyond T&T and the Caribbean. He revealed that initially he thought his Trini accent would have put him at a disadvantage but that wasn’t the case; they loved it. He now hopes that the show will open more doors for Trinis to get exposure internationally.
