In a show titled the strength of a woman, Patrice Roberts demonstrated her strengths, not only as a woman but also as an artist, mother, daughter, friend and most noticeable a gracious, grateful person. Gratitude was on display throughout the show as she sincerely thanked all those who were instrumental in her maturing into the person that she has become today. Even her critics and adversity were given credit for the role they played in strengthening her.
One could feel the passion and sincerity in her performance of ‘unforgettable’ with Kerwin Du Bois as the lyrics of this song voiced the sub-theme of the night: Gratitude.
As the show unfolded many top Soca artistes who have collaborated with Patrice throughout her career came on stage to acknowledge her with words and their songs. Hence, the night saw many crowd-pleasing performances from artistes of the likes of: Farmer Nappy, Nadia Batson, Blaxx, Singing Sandra, Destra, Nailah Blackman, and the ‘King of Soca’ himself Machel Montano just to name a few.
Despite the many top-notch Soca artistes who grace the stage, the night exclusively belongs to Patrice Roberts. Dress in silver and then in gold, she shined on stage not only because of the outfits but more so for her powerful, heartfelt vocals and graceful performances as she passionately delved into every song with the sole intention of pleasing her fans. Her expansive catalog of hits demonstrates the determination and hard work this lady has poured into Soca music for the last two decades.
Caribbean Entertainment Hub was proud to be stage side to cover this special occasion which from all accounts turned out to be very successful. The decision by Patrice Roberts and her team to host this classic event the Thursday preceding Carnival most be commended. We hope this grows into an annual event which should be dubbed: “Patrice Thursday”
