She continues to embody the true strength of a woman, but to many she has evolved way beyond that. A queen in her own right who dominates the stage with pure talent, grace and humility not to mention her fashion is always, always on point. Yes, she is our Soca Queen, a title none can contest, some call her ‘Patsy’, but to many Patrice Roberts needs no introduction.
Caribbean Entertainment Hub was excited to attend the second installment of Patrice Robert’s ‘Strength of a Woman’ concert series, which was held for the second year in a row at the beautiful Normandie Hotel, St. Anns.
As patrons ushered in to what most will consider a sold out venue, anticipation was in the air for all that the night had in store. From the star-studded soca cast to surprise guest performers, pure fete vibes and musical trips down memory lane fused in with soca hits from today, the night was truly a euphoric celebration of music.
The night officially began with laughter as Host and well known Comedian, Rachel Price had patrons in ‘tears’ as she kept them well entertained with some very real and raunchy jokes. Soon after, she began inviting some of the live performers to take the stage during the first half of the show.
Some of the live performers of the night included Choppi, Leadpipe, Motto, Nessa Preppy, Skinny Banton, Alison hinds, Sekon Sta, Nadia Batson, Lyrikal, and many more; all backed by the A-team band. With so many memorable performances of the night, here are a few highlights that are definitely worth mentioning.
Patrice Roberts entered the stage backed by a live choir singing her carnival anthem ‘Happy Carnival’ before bursting into her impeccable catalogue of soca hits; throughout the night, she was joined by graceful dancers on stage.
Another performance that stole the night came when she invited veteran calypsonian Lord Nelson on stage, to perform his classic calypso ‘Meh Lover’, before diving into their 2020 soca collab ‘Wha Yuh Know’.
Patrons were also in for an unexpected treat when Kes was introduced to the stage as a surprise guest to perform many of his hits. He was also joint by Patrice to perform their 2018 collab ‘Like It Like Dat’.
Outside of her live performances, Patrice as usual did not disappoint when it came to her serving us those looks during the night. With four costumes changes and each outfit making a statement, our soca fashionista fiercely represented.

Emotions were also on display near the end of the night as Patrice paid tribute to fellow Soca artiste Problem Child with a surprise token of her appreciation for all that he have contributed to her career over the years.

With passion and sincerity, at the end of the show, she thanked her fans for their continuous support over the years and throughout her entire career. She then invited her little princess Lily on stage to bask in ‘her glory’. Bringing to a close a magical night of true musical celebration.
