One of Trinidad and Tobago’s brightest soca star, Nailah Blackman, is continuing her upward climb towards international recognition and fame.
The ‘Sweet and Loco’ singer, Nailah Blackman, has recently collaborated with Nigerian artiste, Adekunle Gold. Gold, whose real name is Adekunle Kosoko is one of Nigeria’s most influential artistes. In 2017, he won album of the Year and Best African Music Artist at the International Achievement Recognition Awards. In that same year, he also nabbed the title of ‘Collaboration of the Year’ at the City People Entertainment Awards.
The first track off his third studio album, Afro Pop Vol. 1, sees him and Nailah Blackman coming together for the collaborative single, ‘AG Baby’. On this track, Nailah’s unmistakable voice can be heard on the July 16th release’s chorus. Nailah sings “Gimme da gimme da bop / A A A AG baby don’t stop / Gimme da gimme da bop/ A A A AG baby don’t stop”.
“We did a video together during this whole lockdown, in separate locations, so that video should be coming out this month. That’s the next big international project you all can look forward to.” Nailah said.
In other exciting news, Nailah Blackman’s future now has room for the possibility of a Grammy Award! An invitation was extended to the 22-year-old artiste from The Recording Academy! This Academy is solely responsible for artistes being able to receive the much-coveted Grammy award. For unless you’re a member, the thought of receiving a Grammy award remains just that, a thought. With Nailah being a part of this year’s 2000 invited musicians to join the Academy, it aligns with her purpose for going on this musical journey which according to her, she set out three years ago on calling a Grammy her own.
