Who’s ready for the CPL 2019 Playoffs?
The group matches came to a whirlwind end on Friday 4th October 2019, as the Guyana Amazon Warriors secured a new record by becoming the first team in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) tournament history to win 10 consecutive matches this season. Seems like the Guyana reign just won’t stop!
The final match of the tournament took place at the Providence Stadium, Guyana with another faceoff between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Warriors won the toss and elected to field, allowing the Riders to score a total of 143/5 in 20 overs, however the Warriors winning by 7 wickets scored 144/3 in 18.4 overs. Earning his second ‘Man of the Match’ title this season was Trinidadian cricketer, Nicholas Pooran of the Warriors who stroked a brilliant unbeaten half-century to steer the flawless Warriors to their victory.
Up next, as the biggest party in sports continues, it was recently announced that Guyana will be the host of this year’s playoff for the second year in a row. The playoffs will take place from the 6th– 8th October, 2019 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. So which team will you be supporting and who do you have your money on?
With Guyana enjoying their #1 spot and presently in the lead with a total of 20 points, many cricket fans are confident that the four-time previous runners-up can take home the title this year, and earn their first official win.

Guyana Amazon Warriors
The first Qualifier will see the Guyana Amazon Warriors face off against the Barbados Trident who are ranked in 2nd place with a total of 10 points having won 5 matches out of their 10 matches played in total. A win for the Tridents this year will earn them their 2nd CPL title, having previously won in 2015. Do you think they will make it to this year’s finals?

Barbados Tridents
The Eliminator round will see the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots, presently ranked in 3rd place with a total of 10 points face off against the Trinbago Knight Riders for spot in the second Qualifier. The Patriots having won a total of 5 matches out of their 10 matches played continues to show their resilience as they fight for their spot in the finals. A win for the Patriots will earn them their 2nd CPL title as well, having previously won in 2017. Do you think they will be able to bring home another title?

St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots
And in position #4 with a total of 9 points is the three-time defending champions, the Trinbago Knight Riders. Having started off this year’s season on a strong note, winning their first four games consecutively, the Riders seem to have lost their momentum near the end with a losing streak for the remainder of the season. Cricket fans still remain hopeful that they will be able to bounce back in the playoff and secure a spot in the final; for a chance to earn their fourth consecutive win if they can successfully bring home the title.

Trinbago Knight Riders
With the playoffs about to begin and the final match days away from being played, who do you think will be victorious in the end? Will it be the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the Barbados Tridents, the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots or the defending champions the Trinbago Knight Riders? And will you be in Trinidad to celebrate at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on October 12th 2019 when the final match will be played?
