The excitement is back as cricket lovers throughout the Caribbean is gearing up to support their favorite teams and players as the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 officially kicks off once again. Although the tournament was previously scheduled to begin on August 21st 2019, it was later postponed to September 4th 2019 to avoid colliding with the India’s tour of the West Indies.
So who will be this year’s new Champion? With the first three matches already completed and so much more on the way, CEH is here to bring you weekly updates; win, lose or draw with all the thrilling highlights and rousing rivalry amongst your favorite teams.

On Wednesday 4th September, 2019 the first blow of the CPL battle took place at a sold out Queen’s Park Oval with fans at the edge of their seats to witness the brilliant 11-run win from the current defending champions, the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the opening match against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
With newly appointed Captain Kieron Pollard, representing the TKR franchise for the first time in the CPL after Dwayne Bravo suffered a finger injury and is away on recovery, fans are hoping that he will be able to lead the Riders to their third consecutive victory. With that said, they are definitely off to a great start after securing their first win with 152/7 in 20 overs and New Zeeland All-rounder James Neesham of gaining the ‘Man of the Match’ title.
Up next we head to Providence Stadium in Guyana for Match 2 as the St. Lucia Zouks who replaced the previous St. Lucia Stars franchise team taking on the Guyana Amazon Warriors, with Guyana reigning victorious in the end by 13 runs. The Warriors scored 155/9 while the Zouks scored 142/9 in 20 overs and Australian Cricketer, Chris Green of the Warriors being named the ‘Man of the Match’.
Match 3 was met with great anticipation as the Trinidad and Jamaica well known rivalry was reignited in the Queen’s Park Oval on Friday 6th September between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the Jamaica Tallawahs. An intense game from beginning to end, but the Knight Riders claimed their second victory after winning by 22 runs with 191/4, while the Tallawahs scored 169/6 in 20 overs and Trinidadian Cricketer Sunil Narine of the Riders being hailed the ‘Man of the Match’. A proud Shak Rukh Khan, one of the TKR franchise owners and well-known Bollywood actor was also spotted in the crowd enjoying the match.
With matches currently being played in the following six countries Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Barbados and St. Kitts and Nevis. For the next few weeks, Caribbean Entertainment Hub will be keeping you updated with all the stirring day to day action as the CPL 2019 climaxes. Then we head to the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad and Tobago for the final match which is carded to take place on October 12th, 2019.
