In what is being described by many as the most intense game witnessed in the CPL 2019 thus far, the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots reigned victorious in the 2nd ever recorded super over in the history of the Caribbean Premier League. A super over is a tie-breaking method where both teams play a single, additional over of six balls to determine the winner of the match. Not only did the Patriots win this super over but also broke the four match winning streak of the defending champions, the Trinbago Knight Riders.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors earned their 4th win during Match #11 on Saturday 14th September 2019 at the Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre during their showdown with the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The Warriors won the toss and elected to field while the Patriots scored 121 in 19 overs. However, Guyana reigned victorious scoring 122/3 in 15.5 overs and winning by 7 wickets. The ‘Man of the Match’ title was awarded to Afghanistan cricketer Qais Ahmad, of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
MATCH #12 brought with it a restoration of hope as stated by many Jamaican supporters when the Jamaica Tallawahs won their first match in the CPL 2019. The exciting match took place on Sunday 15th September 2019 at the Sabina Park, Kingston where the Tallawahs faced off against the Barbados Tridents. The Tallawahs won the toss but elected to field while the Tridents scored 140/9 in 20 overs. The Tallawahs scoring 145/6 in 18.3 overs, won by 4 wickets. West Indies cricketer from Jamaica, Chadwick Walton earned the ‘Man of the Match’ title.
Also taking place on Sunday 15th September at the Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre, Match #13 between the St. Lucia Zouks and St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Winning the toss and electing to field was the Patriots who won by 6 wickets, scoring a total 0f 143/4 in 14.5 overs while the Zouks scored 138/9 in 20 overs. Akeem Jordan of the Patriots also made his T20 debut and earned the ‘Man of the Match’ title.
And now, the match of all matches for the season thus far, which is still being discussed by cricket lovers and will be for years many more years to come. History was witnessed on Tuesday 17th September 2019 at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre when the Trinbago Knight Riders and St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots tied both scoring 216 in 20 overs. In a dramatic end to this one of a kind match. Bajan cricketer and captain of the Patriots, Carlos Brathwaite was hailed ‘Man of the Match’ as he led them to a stunning victory and earning them their 3rd win.

According to Loop Jamaica, Brathwaite first made 64 from 30 balls to get the Patriots’ pursuit of the Knight Riders’ 216 for four back on track after they slumped to 80 for four. When the scores ended level after 20 overs each, Brathwaite then smacked two 6’s and a 4 to take the Patriots to 18 without loss from their Super over before bowling six nerveless deliveries as TKR mustered only five for one in reply.
