Krosfyah Brought Down The Curtain On 2019

Written by: Simone Tull

Krosfyah brought down the curtain on 2019 with a performance at the Hilton Hotel in Barbados.  Toast NYE was not only a celebration of the dawning of a new decade but also in recognition of the band reaching the milestone of 30 years in the business.

Decked out in their finest for the elegant affair, patrons partied to multi genre sets by the deejays in anticipation of the scheduled live performances. When Krosfyah, the well-travelled band, made their grand entrance at just after 11:30 pm, the party went to another level. With lead singers Edwin Yearwood and Khiomal Nurse upfront, die- hard Krosfyah fans had a phenomenal time as the band performed a string of hits from their extensive catalogue.

Guests of the hotel were drawn to the fanfare and a father and son from Siberia joined veteran lead singer Edwin Yearwood on stage to show their dance moves. The energetic duo even started up a congaline among the crowd, prompting the band to incorporate a rendition of Burning Flames’ Train. The long-running band did not restrict themselves to soca, attendees enjoyed some back-in-time offerings and some dancehall. At midnight, patrons used their prime seaside location to see the spectacular fireworks display as the band launched into Auld Lang Syne.

The youthful 2 Mile Hill with lead singer Mahalia Cummins followed in Krosfyah’s foot step. The eclectic band’s set included a cover of hometown girl Rihanna’s We Found Love.   They also thrilled the audience with some of their own music including the sultry Conversation, Gossip Girl and their bashment soca track Run It.
