Barbahol 2019: Where Food & Fun Collide

Written by: Nekisha Cyrus

Every year it just keeps on getting bigger and better!

This year marks the third annual Barbeque fiesta known as ‘Barbahol’, a one of a kind event that brings together the love for Barbeque cuisine and partying in a fun, outdoors environment that many will say you simply have to be there to experience it.

Hosted by EEEmpire (The Empire. Entertainment. Everything), an entertainment company based in Trinidad and Tobago that has been in existence for the past 10 years, Barbahol continues to grow each year not only in attendance but also in the number of crews competing. This year’s event was held on Saturday 29th June, 2019 at the scenic Ortinola Estate, St. Joseph.

With over ten (10) of the country’s top crews and chefs competing and delivering their best recipes and a variety of delicious menus for patrons to taste and partake in. From BBQ Chicken, Wings, Lamb and yes, even BBQ Rabbit these are just a few of the mouthwatering and appetizing delectables that were served.

A panel of celebrity judges was also given the task to determine who would walk away with this year’s trophy and bragging rights. The panel included popular Radio & Television Personalities like Rodey the Entertainer, Ainka Will, Tim Tim and Signal to Noise; alongside Food Blogger and Trini Chef, David Wears and Chanice Abraham.

By the end of the evening, this year’s winners were announced. In 1st place- Team Paranormik (who were also the defending champions), 2nd place- Team Fit Addicts and 3rd place- Team Loose Joose. When patrons were asked what was the most memorable aspect of this year’s event, most stated the food of course and the definitely the diversity in the music played by some of the nation’s top DJ’s. As EEEmpire says, eat in the day and be prepared to dance the night away.

We at Caribbean Entertainment Hub supports this initiative as EEEmpire continues to fill that much needed niche of unique, fun and cultural-filled events. We look forward to seeing their plans to make Barbahol a hub for Caribbean Food and Entertainment, and one of the largest open-air festivals locally and regionally.
