Let’s talk music in Guyana, as we feature a dynamic record label and production company that has been contributing and promoting Guyana music and artistes for over two decades.
Located in Georgetown, Guyana; Vizion Music Records is one of the most versatile production company producing and promoting many different genres of music, which showcases their diversity and highlights the variety that exists in the local music pool. Founded in 1995 by Mr. Walter ‘Wally’ Fraser in London, England. Initially known as ‘Nu-Vizion’ in 1992 (named after a British Band that he was managing at the time), the company main objective was to provide an outlet for the urban youths in London to explore and express their talents in a positive manner. This objective continued when Mr. Walter migrated back to Guyana.
Having also spent some time in Jamaica, Mr. Walters developed good relations within the Reggae Music fraternity, which afforded him the opportunity to record and produce songs and albums with accomplished artistes such as Buju Banton, Gregory Isaacs, Luciano, Beenie Man, Jah Cure, Duane Stephenson and Tarrus Riley, just to name a few.
Presently, the company roster includes production and management for the following top Guyanese artistes such as Mark Batson, Michelle ‘Big Red’ King, Imax, JP, First Born, Jonathan ‘Lil Red’ King, Errol ‘Ejaay’ James Andrea Daniels, Natural Black and Heat Wave the Band and a few Jamaican artistes as well.
With every great journey, obstacles must present themselves. When asked about some of the challenges the company have faced thus far, we were told that due to the absence of the copyright laws in Guyana, there is a major setback in relation to receiving their deserved earnings in comparison to the rest of the Caribbean. The absence forbids them from earning via social media and online streaming, so their only alternative is through live performances which poses another challenge, as their aren’t much shows in Guyana, that uses local artistes as a headliner, despite their exceptional talents.

However, on a positive note, the company continues to work towards securing that international hit. Their aim is to continue working until their music is competing on an international chart, which they believe is in the very near future as some of the artiste they manage are making remarkable strides. For example, Mark Batson ( featured on CEH recently) whose music is being highlighted around the Caribbean.
Additionally, the company recently launched their Vizion Sports and Entertainment Agency with the mission to nurture and promote Guyana’s young athletes on a larger platform, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent internationally. We at Caribbean Entertainment Hub, will like to commend Vizion Music for their contribution to promoting Guyana artistes and wish them continued success in their endeavours.
