V’ghn, the Grenadian Bad Boy of Soca, continues to make his way to the forefront of Soca lovers’ minds with his vocal instrument and songwriting ability as displayed in his recently released Extended Play ‘XonIQ’.
Fresh off his ‘Soca Nice’ tour, a name that has graced international stages and tongues is this young man fondly known as V’ghn. From Grenada to Paris to Dubai and exciting destinations in between, he just so happens to be Grenada’s reigning Groovy Monarch King; a tied position with fellow Soca Artiste ‘Dash’. When asked what it means being the Groovy Monarch King, he said it is indeed an accomplishment that he feels proud of, as it is one of the most prestigious and talked about competitions on the island.
With plans of an album release set for April 2020 titled ‘XonIQ’, an early preview called ‘XonIQ EP’ was released on December 20, 2019, on all digital platforms. In terms of what can be expected musically, V’ghn chose to bring something different to the table. Genres apart from soca that he has dabbled in are featured on the EP. They are Afrobeats, R&B and modern Dancehall. It is clear that V’ghn has gone international and this EP shows that he has the potential to make it big on the global stage.
With the release of XonIQ this April, deciphering which songs make the cut is currently what his team and himself are tasked with deciding. However, songs that are making their rounds with much applause thus far are ‘Golden’ which has a video, ‘Standing Ovation’ and ‘Little More’ also accompanied by a visual. To V’ghn, the name XonIQ is a representation of his hunger for knowledge, the hunger to push his mental boundaries on topics that pique his interest. For according to him, the EP’s tracks are a representation of the moods he experiences while wading through this blessing called life.
Producers that dedicated their time, energy and talent to this project are Skorch Bun It from the Cayman Islands, Twin Island Records from Trinidad and Tobago, The Legistes from the french island of Guadeloupe, DJ LL Cool Blaze from Miami, FL as well as production from award-winning Producer Perry Jack who is responsible for the mixing and mastering of the majority of tracks. Also, the Executive Producer is Stephen Phillip also known musically as International Stephen.
