Usain Bolt Tests Positive For Covid-19

Written by: Nekisha Cyrus

It is confirmed that the eight-time Olympic gold champion, Usain Bolt has tested positive for the coronavirus and is presently in self-quarantine at his Jamaica home.

Jamaica’s Minister of Health, Christopher Tufton confirmed the news on Monday evening that Usain had indeed tested positive for the virus and all of his recent contacts are now being traced. This confirmation came after Bolt took to social media, posting a video in which he confirmed that he was awaiting results after being tested, last Saturday.

While many have expressed their concern wishing him a speedy recovery, some didn’t hesitate to call out the 34 year world record holder on his neglect to enforce the social distancing measures at his recent surprise birthday party. At his 34th birthday party, Bolt was seen celebrating and partying mask-free with friends.

The Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Holness also confirmed that the police are also investigating the case, due to the fact that Jamaica presently have imposed a social distancing requirement due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, he didn’t specify what offence may have been committed, but said that they are looking into all aspects of the matter and that no exemption or special treatment will be given.

In some more related news, popular American broadcast television outlet, NBC News was forced to issue an apologize to well-known comedian and actor Kevin Hart, after they mistakenly used a photo of the actor to depict Usian Bolt while reporting the news of Usain testing positive for the coronavirus. Kevin hart reposted the tweet to his instagram calling out the network on their disrespectful error (see post below).
