Written by: Nekisha Neicy Cyrus

If you’re not familiar yet, well let us introduce you to the ‘Sweetheart of Soca’, aka Rae Charlez who hails from the beautiful twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Although she is US-based, this soca songstress well known for her talented and down-to-earth personality has been repping for her red, white and black roots wherever and whenever she performs internationally.

With a genuine passion and love for music, Rae has been singing since the tender age of 10 years old. She also attended and is musically trained from the Frank Sinatra School Of Arts in New York. Some of her influences include R&B, Reggae, and Calypso which can easily be heard in her tone, style, and delivery. In September 2019, Rae made her soca debut with her first release, ‘Say Something’ which was then followed by ‘Problems’ and ‘Work It’ featured on the Toatin Riddim for Carnival 2020.

Today, Rae continues to consistently add to her already impressive music catalogue with many more catchy releases. Caribbean Entertainment Hub caught up with our sweetheart recently on Season 3 of ‘The E-Hub’, CEH’s Weekly Instagram Live series, where she talked about what her musical journey has been like thus far, what drives her insane work ethic, gave some much-needed career advice for new artistes and even shared what stages you can find her performing on next. Check out the full fun interview below!

As we mentioned Rae has been dropping those new releases like clockwork. From her 2021 offerings ‘Distraction’, ‘Soca Make Us’ featuring College Boy Jesse, ‘Better’ off of NMG’s Fem Fury Riddim, ‘Whole Day’, which is featured on Dj Private Ryan’s House Of Calypso Project, ‘Sweetest Whine’ off the LaVean Project produced by ShakerHD and her latest release ‘Hot Topic’ featuring Adam O off the Sweet Melanin Riddim produced by Vibez Productionz & International Stephen.
