Sundress Sandals and Shades: Trinidad and Tobago edition
“A celebration of Womanhood”
Sunday 16th October 2022, Trinidad and Tobago
Sundress Sandals and Shades (SSAS), is a uniquely themed concept aimed at celebrating women, is coming to Trinidad and Tobago. The CEO and founder of SSAS INC, Cindy Thomas, designed SSAS to provide women with the opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated, on this day and beyond. SSAS represents everything beautiful about a woman, her beauty inside and out, her passions, her strengths, her ability to nurture life and the love she so fiercely exhibits for her family. A Sundress is the ultimate statement, “I am woman.” It adorns a woman in the splendor of who she is and reinforces the fact that she is a Queen in every aspect of her life.
The founder of this popular Miami event has experienced all the struggles and hardships that come along with being a woman, a single mother and a survivor. Her story is not a unique one, as many women have been exposed to some of the same hardships. With that in mind, Cindy wanted to provide an event where women can unwind in a relaxed atmosphere, and share good and bad experiences (personal and professional) with others.
SSAS started as an event to celebrate women, but turned into so much more. At SSAS, women are adorned in beautiful sundresses in keeping with the theme and pampered for a day while fundraising for a great cause.
One of the most important aspects of SSAS is the fund raising initiative. In the past, SSAS has partnered with Florida agencies like Susan G Komen Foundation for Cancer research and, Shak’s Hope, a foundation that provides assistance and raises awareness for those affected by Sickle Cell Anemia. SSAS the event, gave birth to SSAS INC, an organization established to provide tangible assistance to women, especially minority women struggling with adverse situations in their lives, such as abuse, financial hardship and major medical issues such as Cancer.
This year SSAS INC is proud to take this amazing event to Trinidad and Tobago and will partner with local NGO’s. The first NGO we are partnering with is ITNAC ‘Is there not a cause’. This NGO is run by Avonelle Hector Joseph, a reputable organization that does great work for women in the community, including rescuing and supporting battered women and issues surrounding abuse, which is where the charity aspect will focus.
Sunday July 3rd, was the 5th Annual presentation of SSAS in Miami, Florida. Sunday 16th October 2022, will be the first presentation of SSAS in Trinidad and Tobago. The event will be held at the beautiful Drew Manor estate in Santa Cruz, where patrons will be entertained with music from local Disc Jockeys and special guest performances. There will be catering, cocktails, and a dessert table for those among us with that “sweet tooth”.
Another important aspect of SSAS is the Health and Wellness Booth where women can receive critical health-related information from medical professionals. There will be art, fashion, charity, the phenomenal woman of SSAS awards, and much more all included with ticket purchase. The female entrepreneurs of Trinidad and Tobago will also be given the opportunity to display, sell or promote their business products at the event. Men are also welcome and encouraged to share in the celebration of “us.” SSAS 2022 will follow all Covid19 protocols in place at the time of the event. We are looking forward to bringing you another magical moment in time.
