What started as a 10-year-old Guyanese boy’s dream to make music has launched an illustrious career in the industry. Shawn Hall, the ardent entertainer, in an interview with Caribbean Entertainment Hub, reflected on his early start in music and the realization of his dreams.
From the tender age of 10 years old, Shawn2Hot would write poems that would eventually be turned into songs. He recalls his humble beginnings in Guyana remarking on his time in high school where he was known for constantly beating on desks to create beats for others to perform or performing his own music. Shawn regarded these high school moments as some of the happiest moments of his life. He would later migrate to the US where he continued to peruse his life long dream of being a musician. It was here that he discovered the potency of beat making and another dream was realized.
In addition to being a recording artiste, Shawn2hot now owns and operates his own recording label under the name Volcano Records. Volcano Records already has several artistes under the brand and while Shawn2hot continues to work on his own music and develop his own sound, he also wants to help other artistes to build their brands as well. Regarding his sound as rugged but artistic, Shawn2hot explained that he makes music that will paint pictures to his audience and take them on many journeys. His desire is for his music to impact different people in different ways and evoke a plethora of emotions from his listeners.
Shawn2Hot recognizes that the music industry is no place for the faint of heart. He told Caribbean Entertainment Hub that one of his biggest challenges was coming to the point of self-realization that not everyone will like your music and what you have to say. He explained this is a simple matter of difference; people have different life experiences and perspectives and it should therefore not be taken personally. As a result, the talented young man continues to rise and has major plans for the future including a group project entitled Volcano Music Vol.1 featuring two of the artistes on his label namely: TheFranchiseKid and Mulan Ming. Shawn2hot explained that it is his intention to grow his label to become a global brand.
Shawn2hot told the Hub that hearing his music played on 105.1fm in New York city is yet his proudest moment. He recalled with nostalgia being an average young Guyanese boy whose only dream was to be heard and now to know that the world is finally getting to hear his music is a proud moment indeed.
With his characteristic positivity, Shawn2hot explained that he has navigated his personal and professional life on the mantra that even your darkest moments will pass and everything including time itself is temporary. If there is one message, he would like to share is the importance of remaining positive. He said that life’s about using the resources available to you to achieve your dreams. To young aspiring artiste, he encouraged that you will indeed get your time to shine however to achieve it is important that you follow your heart and do what feels right but never neglect to find time to listen to God since the artiste believes that he is constantly speaking to us all if we would only allow for the time to listen.
Caribbean Entertainment Hub takes great pleasure in introducing you our dedicated readers to this son of the Caribbean soil and promises to keep you fully informed as this young man takes the music industry by storm and continues to make his country and the entire Caribbean proud.
