Reggae Singer Sevana To Face Trial Over Fatal Car Crash

Reggae songstress Sevana is facing the Jamaican courts on the charge of causing death by dangerous driving. On Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, the singer was present at the Westmoreland Parish Court for a preliminary hearing relating to her charges.

The charges arose regarding a car crash that took place in Westmoreland on May 25th this year. It’s reported that Sevana was driving a Honda City car along the Scott Cove main road, heading in the direction of Kingston when her car slammed into a Honda Fit going in the opposite direction.  According to the police, the passenger in the Honda Fit, Ordia Cordiel, was severely injured and admitted to the Black River Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on May 30th.

Savana whose given name is Anna-Sharé Blake, was charged on June 1st and made her first court appearance on September 28th for fingerprinting. Yushaine Morgan, the Singer’s Lawyer explained that Sevana is expected to be in court again on November 23rd and is under no movement restriction. Morgan said that the Entertainer is free to move about and carry out business activities such as booking and performing concerts.

Sevana who is a Westmoreland local coined her name after the parish capital Savanna-la-Mar. She made her musical debut in the 2008 Digicel Rising Stars competition but broke big on the musical scene in 2014 with a collaboration with contemporary reggae singer Protoje on his song “Sudden Flight”. Since then, She has released many popular hits such as “Mango” and “Nobody Man” under the management of Protoje and the label company In.Digg.Nation Collective.
