Fun and exciting things are happening for Badgal Riri!
From one big stage to another! It was announced on February 23rd that Rihanna would be performing at next month’s Academy Awards ceremony, better known as The Oscars. In January, she received her first Oscars nod for “Lift Me Up” which is the theme song of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.
Rihanna, who is currently pregnant with her second child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, in early February, performed at the Super Bowl LVII Apple Halftime Show which was impressively significant as it was her first performance in seven years. “Lift Me Up” has been nominated for the “Best Original Song” Oscar for the movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and was penned by Rihanna, Tems, Ludwig Göransson, and the film’s director, Ryan Coogler.
The other nominees she’s up against for “Best Original Song” are: Diane Warren with “Applause” from “Tell it Like a Woman,” Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR” and David Byrne’s track “This Is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
A Super Bowl performance, an Oscar Award nomination, and a performance all within the first two months of returning after a 7-year hiatus? Well, you can also add wife to that mix of things on Rihanna’s to-do list. A source close to the just-turned-thirty-five Bajan mum said that she’s in wedding planning mode with interest in a Barbados wedding! According to the source, “Throwing a wedding and having another baby are Rihanna’s main focus at the moment,”. The source went on to explain that “Agreeing to do the Super Bowl definitely reinvigorated her love of performing, but it still doesn’t compare to what she has at home. Luckily, A$AP’s on board, too.” With a family of about five or six being ideal for Rihanna, the source revealed, “She has talked about wanting three or four children in total,” and as for if it’s a little boy or girl this time the source said that “Rihanna would love to have a girl next — she and A$AP even have names picked out already,” When it comes to the wedding, the destination is, of course, the land of Cou-Cou and Flying Fish, her homeland, Barbados. It’ll be heavy on the finesse but at the same time, she’d like to be herself. The source divulged that yes, “RiRi’s wedding will be over-the-top” but in the same breath she wants it to be “a super glam event, but she also wants to be able to run around barefoot”.
Whether the wedding will be before the arrival of her new child or after it is uncertain to the public however, one thing we do know is that she’ll be on stage at the Academy Awards on Sunday March 12th at the Dolby Theater over in Los Angeles California.
