Our favorite Sokah Princess, Nailah Blackman and her Sokah Band are ready to bring you ‘FIAH’.
The countdown is officially on, and Nailah is excited to bring you her first virtual full-length concert from Trinidad & Tobago to the world. The concert will take place on Sunday 28th February, 2021 and will be aired on Nailah’s Official YouTube page, Digicel’s Facebook page and D’Music App from 7pm (EST).
So, what can we expect at FIAH?
Well, Caribbean Entertainment Hub caught up with Nailah recently for a quick chat and this is what she had to share…
FIAH will be filled with a lot of energy, a lot of Fiah outfits, Fiah choreography, new arrangements to all your favorite Nailah songs; along with a lot of good vibes from artistes that will be featured on the show. Yes, there will be special guest artistes and Nailah even dropped a few names from her amazing cast line up which includes Patrice Roberts, Kes, Ravi B, Pan extraordinaire- Mr. Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharpe, and new Dancehall sensation, Tafari.
Although there was no official carnival this year, the Watermelon Gyal shared that she decided to have her event during the month of February since the carnival fever is very much still in the air. Despite being busy performing at other virtual shows such as Lavway, Yuma concert, Experience, she really wanted to put her time and energy into her concert and make sure that it would be great.
Now if you’re an official member of NaiArmy, you know that Nailah is always working on new music and new hit collaborations. And just in time for ‘FIAH’, she shocked her fans by releasing her brand-new music video ‘Turn Up’ featuring Jamaica’s Uptop Boss himself, Teejay.
And that’s not all. Nailah also shared that her team has been working on new music throughout 2020 and that there are a lot of projects and international collabs in the works with African, Jamaican and even US artistes. This feat seems like nothing new to the soca princess who has been receiving mad love on streaming sites such as Spotify and Apple music since her major 2020 collab ‘AG Baby’ with Nigerian artiste, Adekunle Gold.
You would think that with the unexpected effects of Covid-19 still lingering on, this would have slowed down Nailah and her team, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. When asked about how she has been dealing with COVID-19, Nailah revealed:
‘I view Covid as a refresher and a reset. I feel as artiste we get very caught up with what we’re doing… life is busy and we just go through the emotions to work hard and make money. I think COVID-19 provided an opportunity to take a step back and look at what we were really doing and gain a fresh perspective to help facilitate how we actually want to get our goals. So, I think it has done me a lot of good because I had a lot of time to write and to be more creative as a creative.
And, when it comes to advice for other creatives still being affected by it:
‘…. use every single disadvantage as an advantage, see what you can get out of it and make the best of the situation’.
And this indeed she did, for those who may not know, in 2020 Nailah Blackman started managing a new artiste who has been creating quite some buzz in these music streets, and goes by the ‘Sammy Jo’. This is what Nailah had to share about the experience thus far:
‘It has been very, very interesting and cool, not to say the least. And hectic as well because I’m an artiste myself. It’s been a lot of work, but Sammy is a very easy artiste to work with, in the sense that she doesn’t complain or make a lot of things a problem, and she is a very hard work and we work very, very well together.
And I think it’s just a matter of time before she gets her legs, her light shining and standing on her own two feet in terms of what she’s doing. And I’m very happy to be apart of her career and to share the knowledge that I’ve learnt thus far.…’
Nailah Blackman & Sammy Jo
From new music to new artiste and now to new business ventures with her new nail collection ‘Nail La La’, it seems like Nailah has been quite busy and still hinting that there is still so much more on the way. But for now, we’re all excited and looking forward to her ‘FIAH’ concert on Sunday 28th February 2021. So, save the date and get ready to celebrate with the Sokah Princess.
CEH will like to say a special Thank You to Anson Pro, Nailah Blackman, and her team for taking the time to chat with us!
