Come let we ‘Dingolay’ to the sweet, sweet sound of Soca music.
Our Sokah Princess, Nailah Blackman is at it once again and this time she brought company. Merging the old with the new, Nailah Blackman alongside Mical Teja has soca lovers everywhere singing ‘Dingolay’. The word ‘Ding.olay’, which means to dance in an unusual, energetic and carefree manner; or rhythmic dance, synonymous with Caribbean people was first made popular in 1994 by the late great calypsonian, Winston Bailey aka ‘The Mighty Shadow’.
Fast-forward to today Nailah and Mical are reminding and reintroducing us to the classic sound of yesteryear with a noticeable modern twist. The song was written by Nailah, Mical, Tano, and Anson Soverall. Produced by Tano and Mical Teja, and mixed by Kasey Phillips of Precision Productions.
And it seems like Mical is definitely one to watch as he continues to successfully balance his artistry as an Artiste, Producer, and Songwriter. To date, he is responsible for many of your favorite soca songs including Nailah Blackman’s 2016 breakout single ‘Workout’ alongside Kes Dieffenthaller, and also this year’s biggest and most viral soca single, Patrice Robert’s ‘Mind My Business’, amongst many others.
