The Carnival 2024 season is officially upon us and the new soca releases just won’t stop rolling in.
This month we spotlight one of soca’s most melodic, versatile, and unique voices, the one and only Erphaan Alves with two of his latest contributions for the 2024 soca season ‘Anchor Down’ and ‘Tidal’.
Erphaan Alves is no stranger to the soca circuit. His singing career began at nine through calypso music, when he entered and won his Primary School’s (Rosary Boys RC) Calypso Monarch title in 2001. An avid showman and stage performer from even then, Erphaan retained the monarchy for the next two years. Erphaan has honed his stagemanship by performing in several competitions over the years including T&T Idol Calypso Competition, Twelve and Under Series, Xante Calypso Monarch, TV6 Sound Stage, TSTT Party Flava Face Off Song Competition, Synergy TV Soca Star, and the National Schools’ Soca Monarch which he won in 2008 and 2009. Most notably, he won the National Song competition in 2012 singing his composition, ‘As We Rise’.
Today, he has solidified himself as one to watch and a young superstar on the rise. Over the years he has given us countless groovy soca anthems which include ‘Overdue’, ‘Blaze in Love’, ‘So Sweet’, ‘Compromise’, No Habla’, ‘Intentions’, ‘In Your Eyes’, ‘Highest Feeling’ and many more.
Be sure to stay updated with Erphaan Alves new music, live performances, and more throughout the season.
