Written by: Nekisha Cyrus

September 2020 is turning out to be a September to remember for dancehall lovers as some of the heavy hitters in the business have ‘droped’ a plethora of high quality tracks all destined to make lasting impressions on fans. Heading the list is Tarrus Riley & Shenseea’s ‘lighter’ which has taken off with no sign of stopping anytime soon!

In just one week since it’s official release, ‘Lighter’ has racked up over 8 million views on YouTube, hit the #1 spot on the Reggae iTunes chart; and continues to trend as fans all over the world is joining in the #LighterChallenge showcasing their musical talent, creativity and in some cases keeping us well-entertained with the comedy on social media.

Yes, we think it’s safe to say that this Dancehall/ Reggae track is the latest hit to leave the shores of Jamaica and CEH is loving it. Shenseea definitely delivered with the vocals on ‘Lighter’ and have been delivering some heat with each new release since 2020 begun. From ‘The Side chick song’, ‘Trick-a-treat’ ‘Wasabi’, ‘Good Comfort’, ‘Sure Sure’ and more, the Shenyeng queen herself surely didn’t come to play this year.

‘Lighter’ was also produced by Rvssian and is featured on Tarrus Riley’s twelve (12) track album ‘Healing’ which also features Teejay, Dean Fraser, Konshens, Dexta Daps and more. And we believe that with everything that has been happening in 2020, some feel good music might just be what the doctor prescribed. Speaking of good music, here are some more of the latest dancehall releases for the month of September 2020.
