The Magnificent Troopers Drum Corp is making waves in the movie industry. Undoubtedly one of the top marching bands in Jamaica, they are a cut above the rest leading to an appearance in the Authentic Jamaican BlockBuster Movie, ‘Sprinter’.
The 2018 film, Sprinter now released on Netflix was directed by Storm Saulter and tells the story of Akeem Sharp who is set to be Jamaica’s next big track-and-field sensation. Akeem rise in track and field takes him to the U.S. to reunite him with his mother who has immigrated to support the family and lived as an illegal resident for over a decade in the states.
Other noticeable ground-breaking performances by the Magnificent Troopers Drum Corp are being showcased alongside Beenie man in one of his latest singles ‘Our Grung’ and being featured with dancehall artiste Danielle ‘Jamaican Girl’ video. They are changing the music culture in Jamaica mixing classic instrumental music with dancehall.
Apart from making music and rudimental choreographed performances, they are a beacon of light in the region where they reside. They do charity performances in adjacent communities and perform a wide range of community service for the local golden age homes.
The love amongst the members of Magnificent Troopers Drum Corp is unbreakable…with members from over 20 years ago still supporting the movement. Whether or not they are still practicing the craft, they can be called upon at any time for their much-needed assistance.
Under the watchful eye of Band Director Milton Wong and his excellence team: Michael Williams, Carvel James, Janet Bowen, Courtney Scott, and choreographer Christopher Pinnock; the Band is a constantly growing family; annually recruiting members to build the legacy and carry on the Magnificent tradition of Marching Bands in Jamaica.
