It seems like just yesterday we heard ‘Burning’ and ‘Toast’ and now Koffee is off to the Ball!

Reggae singer, songwriter and Spanish Town native, Mikayla ‘Koffee’ Simpson is no stranger to the big stage and this year will be no different. It was announced that she will be performing at this year’s Governors Ball alongside some of today’s biggest mainstream acts. The New York City festival which was first held in 2011 will run from June 9th-11th and is set to take place in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens.

This year’s Governors Ball festival will be headlined by Lizzo, Odesza and Kendrick Lamar fellow performers of the festival include Diplo, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Nas X, Giveon and Davido.

Fun fact: Koffee got her name from her friends. When she was 12 they began calling her “Coffee” because on a really hot day she brought a cup of coffee to school.

Koffee, at the age of 19 became the first woman and youngest artiste to win a GRAMMY Award which she did with her album “Rapture”. This year, her album “Gifted” is up for the same award alongside fellow Jamaican acts: Sean Paul with Scorcha, Shaggy with Com Fly Wid Mi, Kabaka Pyramid with The Kalling and Protoje with Third Time’s The Charm

Fun Fact: The “C” in “coffee” she turned to a “K” to mirror the spelling of her given name, Mikayla.
