Guyana Talent Search 2021 Grand Finale Shocking Results

Written by: Jamel Grahame

The grand finale of the highly anticipated episodic roller coaster ride of Guyana’s talent search programme was a thrill ride for the ages that will be definitely etched into our collective memories. Ten unsuspecting performers came to the stage in what they believed to be the fight of their lives and left it all on the stage in the hope that they will one last time, impress the judges and the ever tuff Guyanese audience. While the nerves and weight of the moment indeed overpowered some of the performers many rose to the occasion and produced phenomenal performances. There was no judging panel to offer comments after the performances but the Hard-working comments section came with their opinions.

Some High lights included early favourites Logan Simpson, whose brilliant performance was enhanced by the expert lighting effects and overall production effort of the production team and Nia Allen whose performance was met with much ‘fandemonium’.  Young Curtela Lewis, had a breakout Moment with many calling her the surprise act of the night as her bold, ambitious and beautifully executed cover of Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary” is being regarded as an undeniable stroke of absolute genius.

Other fan favourites included:  Darius Austin on the steel Pan, speed painter – Roberto Teekah, singer/ guitarist – Cassie Adams, and Kaysheena Sinh the young classical Indian Dancer. Quanisha Patterson again struck gold with her spoken word poetry. Her performance combined several factions of the arts including dance, drama and music but still managed to make her poetry, and message the focus of the performance. Outfitted for elegance, the young poet delivered a patriotic masterpiece accompanied by the vocal serenade of Jacky Jaxx’s love song to her country.

The brilliant performances by the contestant, the entertaining sideshow that featured Judge Akello Elliot showing his skills on the Drum, the Medley performed by the entire top ten and guest performances by Vanita Willie aka the Poowah Lady and Gospel artiste/reigning soca Monarch Samuel Medas, whose moving soulful gospel performance left many with goosebumps could not prepare the viewing public for the surprise reveal that all ten contestants are going to be winners.

Host Ferlize Roberts announced that each contestant would be receiving the $500,000 grand prize a chance to meet with Grammy award-winning artiste saint John and will have their names added to the official registrar for artistes. There was a mixed reaction to the decision with many loving the decision and even calling for other competitions to pattern from the Ministry. While others criticized the decision, labelling it lazy, unimaginative and mostly unfair. Laured Stewart who has been sharing his views publicly throughout the competition and has quite the social media following also opined that it is not fair that all contestants get the same prize when others clearly worked harder and performed better.  Stewart as usual does not hold back or filter his opinions as regards the entire programme.

We here at Caribbean Entertainment hub want to offer our congratulations to all those involved in the production of this programme and take the time to acknowledge the hard-working and dedicated live comments section whose input has been a driving force as regards making this programme a national sensation.
