Written by: Jamel Grahame

Emanulla, the young YouTube Nigerian comedic sensation and the team at Mark Angel Comedy had thousands of Guyanese in stitches on their recently concluded concert tour. Mammoth crowds flocked the National Cultural Center in Guyana on Wednesday 7th August for the highly anticipated Emanualla for Emancipation comedy show. The programme organizers in an effort to accommodate the massive crowd attracted by the Emanualla appearance had to organize two showings at the National culture center and others in Linden and Berbice on the 08th and 9th respectively.

Emanualla’s talent was initially recognized via short viral comedic videos posted online by Mark Angel comedy. The young Nigerian Comedian has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame due to her quick wit and expert comedic timing and is now a household name and internet sensation worldwide. Since her comedic stylings has become a hit, the team at Mark Angel Comedy has grown to include many other comedians such as the young ‘Success’, ‘K Brown’, ‘Papa Success’, and ‘Mama Success’.

The Best of  Emanualla, Success and Mark Angel Comedy Team

The entire team was treated to the full complement of Guyanese hospitality from the time of their arrival in Guyana.  They enjoyed tours at and many courtesy calls including a sit down with the Minister George Norton.

Local organizer for the Emanualla for Emancipation show, Lyndon Jones and his team, put together a brilliant comedic spectacle that featured many of the biggest names in Guyanese Comedy in addition to the headline act. Comedians such as Mark Luke Edwards, Mark Kazim aka (Lol), Michael Ignatius, Clemencio Goddette, and Lyndon Jones himself took to the stage to add to the night’s ambiance. Hilarious skits and presentations created many memorable moments that had the audience laughing from start to finish. The audience was treated to some standup comedy including a laughter inducing routine from Michael Ignatius. He spoke to many issues including the generational gaps and the way things have changed even in the realm of recreational dancing. The routine featured Ignatius’s characteristic animated expressions and of course his ability to engage his audience as he would continually respond to the audience heckles and incorporate them into his routine without breaking his stride. Other comedians such as Mark Kazim also had the audience in fits of laughter as they anxiously awaited the night’s main attraction.

By the time Emanualla took to the stage, the screams from the crowd in the Cultural center drowned out most of her introduction; as many revered the opportunity to witness the comedic genius of Mark Angel Comedy live.  The Nigerian cast recreated many of their most popular pieces for the live audience complete with the usual one-liners that has made the company a worldwide internet sensation. While there were many standout moments, there was an undeniable authenticity to the pairing of Emanualla and Mark Angel that resonated with the masses and had the audience laughing and begging for more until the final curtain call.

The night ended with many adoring fans rushing the stage in hopes of a photo opportunity or a chance to meet and greet with the young inspirational comedians and the rest of the cast.  Meanwhile, a long line of anxious patrons assembled to gain entry to the shows second airing slated for later that evening.

Caribbean Entertainment Hub wishes the Emanualla and the entire team at Mark Angel Comedy continued success with their Caribbean tour and other future endeavors.
