“De New Queen Of Zess” By Devon Seale

“Light Dem Up”

In addressing an incident where a Chaguanas woman killed a suspected bandit who was allegedly attempting to enter her home, Kamla Persad-Bissessar made it graphically clear that citizens must be given the opportunity to defend themselves.

She said: “When the criminals invade your home, draw your licenced firearm and light dem up. Empty the whole clip! Reload! We have to fight fire with fire.”

She added: “This is why more law-abiding citizens must be given legal firearms, why we must have stand your ground laws, so this woman will not be charged.”

In a follow-up speech soon after She reiterated her “light them up” comment.

“You have to load up your (auto) ‘matic and then knock it on them again and again.”

“I prefer to be reckless than seen to be feckless.”

“Criminals’ rights should cease to exist when they enter your home.”

Well as to be expected these pronouncements were bound to catch the ear of some calypsonians. Devon Seale soon set pen to paper and came up with a gem of a calypso called  “De New Queen of Zess”

Verse 1:

“When the place done hot but yuh throwing oil

We call that gaslighting Serious gaslighting

When you’re fanning flames when things start to boil

Well you’re just gaslighting gas lighting

I find our leaders here in this town

Have a sacred duty to cool it down

But a woman eager to wear the crown

Telling she supporters to stand your ground”

Chorus:

“She tell she crew to load up De matic

De new Queen of Zess but she causing stress

With her Convent accented it problematic

The new Queen of Zess Lord what a hot mess

Like this woman trip about empty the clip

Where will it stop when youths light it up

But now KPB switch to KPD From Kamla P Bissessar to Kamal P De-Zesser

Yes KPB is now KPD not Kamla P Bissessar but Kamal P De-Zesser”

We agree with the Youtuber @colinsamuel2884 comment:

“Kaiso in yuh kaiso. Great composition. I’ll see you in d park and d big yard.💯💥💥💥
