Chutney Soca Monarch 2021 Competition Is On

Written by: David Lawrence

Chutney Soca Monarch founder, George Singh, announced recently at a virtual press conference that the 2021 Chutney Soca Monarch (CSM) competition will be held virtually.

Citing the fact that the show over the years has been viewed predominately by an online audience, Singh said: “Because of this phenomenon, we are 100 percent certain that a CSM projected to a 100 percent online audience will be a great success, giving us the potential to reach an even larger audience. A well-produced TV event also gives CSM the unique opportunity to become more creative and innovative within the event, making it even more attractive to the online audience,”
Singh said that the online audience normally exceeds one million viewers for the first month after the finals and includes viewers from the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, and Barbados.

He went on to say: “It will give us the opportunity to pre-package the ‘live’ events and also edit out unnecessary content, eliminating dead spots, making the event shorter, more attractive, and more palatable to the online viewers. Using online entertainment templates such as ‘AGT’ (America’s Got Talent) and ‘The Voice’, producers now have the opportunity to create a show with an International feel, better visibility, and creating opportunities with greater potential for marketing the diverse cultural landscape of Trinidad and Tobago.”
The finals will be televised nationally and streamed free across social media with viewers having the ability to vote.

The CSM semi-finals will be held on January 30th, and the finals on February 13th with GI the reigning champion defending his crown.
