Soca music, steel pan, moko jumbies, pierrot grenades and Carnival-costumed models welcomed travellers arriving at Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston Jamaica this past week, as Caribbean Airlines officially launched its ‘Welcome Home’ Campaign at its northern base in the land of reggae and Rastafarianism.
To mark the occasion, on April 13, the airline held its signature ‘Customer Appreciation’ activity at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston. Arriving passengers received an authentic Caribbean welcome, with music and costumed revelers greeting them along with exciting giveaways. The activity began at 1 pm and visitors from regional and international destinations were pleasantly surprised and receptive of the airline’s ‘Welcome Home’ gesture.
Arriving on a Caribbean Airlines flight, entertainers, Jadel Legere and Aaron “Voice” St Louis expressed their opinions and support for the initiative.
“This is my very first time in Jamaica,” said Soca singer, Jadel Legere on arrival. “So it was a pleasant surprise to be greeted with all this cool stuff that’s familiar to me and it definitely made me feel welcome and happy. My flight was great and fun as so many of my music friends were on board also – Iwer, Voice and all the DJs and managers from the industry. Now I see why so many Trinis think of Jamaica as their second home and I can’t wait to explore the sights and sounds and you know I love to get in the water also!”

“Caribbean Airlines continues to bring the region together,” said St Louis, “and I’m honored to be a part of the Welcome Home campaign and the amazing song and video we did with Agent Sasco, Machel Montano and my brother Travis World.”
The celebrations continued at Caribbean Airlines’ head office at 128 Old Hope Road Kingston on April 14, where the airline hosted a ‘Welcome Home Pop-Up’ event for employees and members of the public, treating them to Jamaica’s unique local cuisine, like tasty patties and jerk.
The festivities featured live performances from Soca King, Machel Montano and Agent Sasco. The duo also delivered an energetic rendition of the airline’s official “Welcome Home “ theme song and soca hit, which left the eager audience wanting more.
Additionally, Jamaican master of the turntables Ryan Williams (popularly known as ‘DJ Smoke’) and guest DJ Travis World kept the spectators entertained and the ‘vibes’ going throughout the evening.
Caribbean Airlines CEO, Garvin Medera said:
“We are happy to launch our ‘Welcome Home’ campaign here at home in Jamaica, and to celebrate with our valued customers and employees. At its core, ‘Welcome Home’ is our clear intention this year to focus on service and consistent attention to passengers. The campaign highlights what connects us to each other and to home. As the year progresses, you will see an even deeper focus on service throughout our expanding network.”
The Welcome Home campaign will be launched officially in neighboring Guyana next, followed by Barbados and on to other regional destinations as the airline prepares to expand its fleet and service throughout the region.
