What do you feel? What can you feel?
A touching philosophy from Roger Miller: “Some people feel the rain; others just get wet.”
A lot of interpretations can be derived from this saying but right now it brings out the point that some persons can experience the same thing yet not feel the same way as we do.
When the rain falls, some feel like delving into it and dancing or in most cases, sleep, while others would complain and find every fault with the rain for ruining their plans.
Like it was mentioned though, we all have different feelings.
That’s one of the things that make us humans. Our ability to feel things and not feel things.
So answer me. Can you feel it?
That pulsating sensation running down your skin as you feel the wind brush against your skin on a cold night? That riveting breath of relief you give out as you realize it is almost the end of your work shift.
The feel of your loved ones beating heart as you rest your hands on their chest during an interesting and sometimes funny conversation?
There is so much to feel yet so little time to feel it.
These days life brushes by us so fast that it is hard to enjoy the simple things in life that once made us happy.
We barely have time to walk on the beach, walk in the park, ruffle our dog or cat’s hair in the morning before work or school.
Our lifestyles have changed so much that those simple things are too time consuming to do now.
Sometimes I wish I could live in the mountainous Alps or tucked away in some Amish village. The values there never cease to exist or amaze me. Everyone is happy in their own little way. They work together, argue together and just be together. It is so simple and life is so much easier without the stress of having to deal with the traffic, the tedious surrounding, unfriendly colleagues, the crazy boss and most of all too consuming life.
Simplicity is the key to feeling. It allows us to make time for the important things. It draws to our attention that we have what we need in life and that pursuing more power and knowledge and money is just a waste of time – no offense.
So take the time out to make someone’s day better, to listen and feel the warmth of nature, take a walk on the beach and most of all feel. That is all it takes to escape from the harsh realities of life if even for a day.
