Bob Marley’s Exhibition To Be Showcased At The Grammy Museum

Jamaican Reggae Music Legend, Bob Marley legacy will be featured at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles once again. The Reggae icon alongside his family’s legacy will be showcased for fans to enjoy during an eight month exhibition starting February 9th and ending October 16th, 2022.

According to Grammy Museum’s curator and director of exhibitions Nicholas Vega, “These exhibits continue to honor and recognize the lasting legacies of the groundbreaking artist”. Nicholas also highlighted the Museum’s long-standing relationship with the Marley family.

The “Marley: A Family Legacy” exhibit will showcase some of the family members artifacts, including:
– Sharon and Cedella Marley: Custom-made Catch a Fire clothing outfits by Cedella Marley
– Julian Marley: Dashiki top worn on the As I Am album cover
– Ky-Mani Marley: Ovation guitar
– Ziggy Marley: Ovation guitar
– Damian Marley: Distant Relatives album proof
– Rita Marley: I-Threes dress and wrap
– Custom Bob Marley tribute edition Gibson guitar and more.

According to Billboard, guests will also have the opportunity to participate in an interactive drum lesson dubbed “Learn How to Play Reggae Drums With Santa Davis.” Davis has played drums for Bob Marley, Augustus Pablo, Peter Tosh, and many other Jamaican reggae artists. Since 2003, he’s kept time for Ziggy Marley and his band. One of the innovators of the unique Jamaican drum style, Davis teaches how to create the reggae “offbeat.” Guests can take a seat at the kit for a reggae drum lesson, as reported by Billboard.

Since Bob Marley’s death in 1981 (at the age of 36), Marley’s legacy continues to grow and has earned him the well deserved title of ‘The Greatest Reggae Artists of All Time’. In 1994, Marley was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 2001, he received a lifetime achievement award and was voted into the Song Writers Hall Of Fame in 2010. And throughout the years, appeals have also been made to recognized as a National Hero in Jamaica. His music still continues to make history even decades after its release. In 1984, Legend: Best Of Bob Marley And The Wailers, a compilation of their work is one of the best-selling albums of all time, is currently 15 times platinum certified in the United States and it is one of only 29 albums to be certified at 15 million or more sales.

Adding their own contribution to his legacy and the overall Marley brand, his children have created their own lane and unique identities. They even formed the ‘The Melody Makers’ which consisted of his children Ziggy, Sharon, Cedella, and Stephen Marley. (Read more about them here).
