Antigua Soca Star Ricardo Drue Talks Musical Journey, Family Life, New Music and More

Written by: Nekisha Neicy Cyrus

‘Dear Beloved’, we are gathered here today to celebrate our favorite soca ‘Vagabond’. We ‘Bet’ that this Antigua-born, multi Soca Monarch winner’s music has surely made it to your favorite playlist. This ‘Professional’, ‘Socaholic’ has given us many soca anthems and we can ‘Respectfully’ say that a few have even made it to our list of personal faves. And if you’re still unsure about who we are talking about, don’t worry because ‘I Got You’. According to his ‘ID’ he goes by the name Ricardo Drue, aka the ‘South Man’…lol.

Yes, Ricardo Drue has been consistently and successfully adding to the soca pot over the years. His versatility as an artiste sets him apart from many, and his unique manner for using music to connect fans through the most relatable topics has become something we look forward to with each release.

Ricardo Drue recently joined us for Season 3 of Caribbean Entertainment Hub’s Weekly Instagram Live series, ‘The E-Hub’ where he talked about his musical journey and growth over the years, lessons learnt from performing with ‘Roy Cape All Stars’, his family life and what being a Dad has taught him, how he balances his personal/ professional life, and of course new music. Check out this full fun and insightful interview below!

As we all know, when it comes to new music, there is never a shortage with Ricardo Drue. His 2022 release ‘Dear Beloved’ alongside Trinidadian Soca artiste Turner has already become a fan favorite, and many have been enjoying the sneak peak into his relationship with Soca Queen and Mega star Patrice Roberts that he shares in the visuals. And we also saw that there may also be another collab between the two lovebirds on its way, as he teased at the end of his music video. We’re excited to see what new release will be joining the couples catalogue alongside ‘Nah Leaving’ and ‘Toxic Love’.

And just in case you’re missing his comical side, well, we have some good news. His new single ‘Weak’ is just what the doctor ordered because we can never have enough soca rum anthems right, lol? But the new releases doesn’t quite stop there, his new single ‘Tornado’ which is featured on the ‘GOT Riddim’ is out now and we’ve been told that the music video will be coming very soon. And a little birdie also shared that there is a whole new album on the way guys, so definitely stay tuned to CEH for more updates on this!

Speaking of updates, you can stay connect with your favorite soca vagabond, by following him on Instagram and Facebook, and you can also subscribe and check out his New music and You Tube series. Also you can check out his new merch for purchase right here as well.
