Confident and talented is an understatement when describing this young award-winning artiste and Trinidadian soca superstar in the making. With over 10 years’ experience under his belt, this 15 years old soca artiste continues to expand his already impressive musical resume and proves that he still has a lot more in store for us. Born on June 25th 2003, Aaron musical journey started at the tender age of three years old when he performed as a backup singer for his sister Jaylana. He said that he knew from a very early age that he loved performing and wanted to be a performer.
It takes a plenitude of talent to acquire multiple award titles in a variety of musical genres. Aaron however, continues to make it look rather easy as he presently holds the following titles:
The King of Soca, Machel Montano labels him as the future of soca music. He is often compared to Mr. Montano as they both had an early yet successful start in the music industry. When asked how he feels about the comparison, he says, ‘It is a privilege because I look up to the soca legend for the success he have achieved and his contribution to the art form. I really admire him’. Aaron was even invited to perform at the annual Machel Monday concert series (known for being one of the biggest event in Trinidad & Tobago carnival).
His brand new soca release for 2019 ‘Back to Basics’, was released on September 23rd 2018 just in time for Calypso History Month, which is in October and has already began creating a serious buzz on the airwaves. Written by Trinidadian soca artiste/ songwriter College Boy Jesse and produced by Advokit Productions, this infectious Rapso-fused soca track speaks about appreciating our culture and the origins of soca music. The lyrics expresses recognition for revered soca legends like the Mighty Sparrow and Lord Kitchener who have paved the way for this new generation of soca artistes. A dancing Brother Resistance can also be seen making a cameo in the visuals. The video was shot by well-known videographer Denithy in St. George’s College where Aaron is presently a form 4 student.
Over the years Aaron has consistently contributed some of our favorite soca hits, such as ‘Can you feel it’ (2016), ‘Mega Vybz’ (2017) and ‘Better Days’ (2018). He says that one of his goals is to win an International Soca Monarch title and also to become a producer for other artistes. He has been touring regularly and performing on stages internationally, such as New York, Toronto, Barbados, Grenada and Belize as he continues to carry soca music world wide.
