CEH May 2021 New Soca Releases: Spotlights Trinidad ‘Malaika’

‘Calling’ all groovy soca lovers, we’re dedicating this one to you!

This month, we’re featuring the sultry and sexy vocals of Trinidadian Singer & Songwriter Malaika Ballantyne’s latest release ‘Calling’. This sexy groovy single was written by Malaika herself and produced by Badjohn Republic’s Kyle Phillips.

Malaika, daughter of veteran calypsonian Gregory Ballantyne is no stranger when it comes to the soca and calypso circuit. Throughout the years, through her consistency and versatility, she has definitely become ‘one to watch’ with releases such as ‘Control’, ‘Defiance’, ‘Jammer’, ‘Turn Up’ and ‘Pave De Road’, just to name a few. As a performer, she has also frontlined with the popular band ‘Imij & Company’ (who has produced some of todays’ top soca stars such as Kes the band).

The Trini songstress also holds the ‘Ms La Reine Rive 2012’ title and has placed 3rd in the well-known ‘Digicel Rising Star’ competition in 2013. Outside of music, Malaika is also a professional Bikini Athlete and Personal Trainer, as you can surely tell by looking at her amazing physique.
