‘My Guyana’ by new Guyanese artiste Sharona Haniff- Katriah is an inescapable patriotic anthem. Since its release in May 2021, the song has taken over local airwaves and has amassed social and other media attention.  The New Artiste a self-described country girl explained that she defied the odds and released her song during the Pandemic because she believes it is what the people needed in these dark times.

The mostly self-thought singer and dancer described her pilot project as one made from love. It was always her dream to launch her career with something she loves and thought paying homage to her country was the apt way to do so. The video for the song showcases the rich cultural diversity of Guyana while showing the artistes versatility as she can be seen performing African, Indian, and Amerindian dances fully costumed with the respective cultural attire. The song is slowly assuming an ambassadorial role for Guyana’s culture and is constantly featured on the Ministry of Tourism’s social and other media feeds.
